CRAWFORD, Neb. (AP) - Firefighters from 13 agencies were battling blazes last night in northwest Nebraska near Crawford.
Four fires were reported around 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in western Dawes County.
Two of the fires are on federal land, while two fires closer to Crawford are mostly on private land.
Firefighters say the fires are burning in canyons, making them difficult to access. How many acres the fires burned has not yet been made available.
The National Weather Service in Cheyenne says today's weather will be critical to firefighters. The temperature is expected to climb to 100 degrees and the wind will be from the west at 15 mph.
