On his monthly radio program Tuesday night, Tom Osborne admitted he's as tired of speculation about conference realignment as anyone, and Nebraska's athletic director offered some encouraging news, even though he said specifics were "off limits" regarding NU's potential interest in the Big 10 Conference or the nation's oldest conference's potential interest in the Huskers.

"Hopefully we'll get things put together in the next few days," Osborne told Husker Sports Network Host Lane Grindle.

"I don't know exactly what the time frame is (that) we'll be able to put this thing to bed," Osborne said, "but I'm getting tired of it, you're probably getting tired of it, and the fans are getting tired of it."

Osborne declined to share details, but also acknowledged "there's a lot of information that we really don't have right now."

Therefore, Osborne added, "we're just not going to add to the confusion until we know for sure" what all has happened or could happen."

One thing he was certain about was cooling some of the flames the media use to describe Nebraska's relationship with fellow Big 12 Conference football power Texas.

"We certainly don't have anything against anybody in the Big 12," Osborne said. "This decision is not going to be based on animosity or petty jealousy. I mean, you're talking about something that could maintain for the next 75 or 100 years. This is a big deal in terms of the University of Nebraska (and) this is a big deal in view of many other institutions."

Osborne told Grindle that decisions like the one facing Nebraska are never based on personal likes or dislikes. "I get along very well with Deloss Dodds, and I'm a great admirer of Mack Brown," he said of the Texas athletic director and head football coach, respectively.

"Texas has obviously done very well athletically, and you have to admire them for that," Osborne said, "so this is not a case where we're somehow reacting to any one school, particularly to Texas."
