LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Greg Sharpe, who filled in as Nebraska's radio play-by-play announcer for the last three football games, is the new Voice of the Huskers for football and baseball.

The Husker Sports Network made the announcement late Tuesday afternoon.

Sharpe will continue to work as an announcer for televised basketball games on Fox Sports Net.

Sharpe calls it an honor to join the Nebraska network. He sayshis goal is to provide an entertaining and informative broadcast tofans throughout Nebraska and the country.

The two-time Kansas Sportscaster of the Year was play-by-play voice of Kansas State football and basketball from 1996 to 2002. He most recently was director of operations at Topeka radio station WIBW.

Sharpe replaces Jim Rose, who resigned in November, citing physical and mental exhaustion.

In other notes from Husker football:

Tickets go on sale Wednesday morning for the Nebraska spring football game. Tickets can be purchased at Huskers.com, at the Nebraska Ticket Office, or by calling the ticket office at 1-800-8-BIG RED. Reserved tickets cost $10. General admission is $8 and $4. Kids under age 6 and UNL students, faculty and staff are admitted free. Junior high students and younger can get in free if they take the Drug Free Pledge. The game is April 19th at 1 o'clock at Memorial Stadium.

Nebraska plans to sign a recruiting class of 25 football players Wednesday. It's a class new coach Bo Pelini scrambled to fill after the de-commitments of 14 players originally pledged to former coach Bill Callahan's staff. Recruiting analyst Jeremy Crabtree of Rivals.com says Pelini and his staff did an amazing job dealing with a difficult situation after the coaching change. Crabtree has Nebraska's class ranked 28th nationally. The only five-star recruit is offensive lineman Baker Steinkhuhler out of Lincoln Southwest. But Crabtree says the class is deep on talent. Four other in-state players are expected to sign. Nine players from Texas are slated to sign with the Huskers.
