Retired Grand Island investment banker Jay Stoddard will face incumbent 3rd District Congressman Adrian Smith in November.

Smith took about 87% of the vote in defeating challenger Jeremiah Ellison in the GOP primary, while Stoddard topped Paul Spatz about 2-1.

Stoddard...the Democrats 3rd District Chairman...has lost races in each of the past 3 election, twice for Secretary of State and once for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

In the Omaha-based 2nd District, incumbent Lee Terry easily won the GOP nomination for a 6th term. He'll face Jim Esch...his 2006 Democratic opponents...who beat economics professor Richard Carter about 4-1.

In the 1st District, incumber Republican Jeff Fortenberry and Democrat Max Yashirin were both unopposed.
