The longtime curator of the Sioux Indian Museum in Rapid City has been honored for her years of service in preserving American Indian history.
U-S Sen. Tim Johnson yesterday presented Paulette Montileaux with a statement he had entered into the Congressional Record praising her service over 42 years with the federal Interior Department.
Johnson says Montileaux work has helped preserve the history of the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota people.
Montileaux retired this past spring after 25 years as curator of the Rapid City museum. She is a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
