NELSON SAYS IT'S WRONG TO BLAME ETHANOL FOR HIGH FOOD PRICES (with audio)

Nebraska Democratic Senator Ben Nelson says blaming ethanol for high food prices isn't fair and 26 of his Republican colleagues are wrong in calling for the EPA to cut federal mandates for its production.
The Senators and Texas governor Rick Perry say ethanol production is driving food prices too high, but Nelson says there are a lot of other factors involved with more impact than ethanol.
Nelson thinks some of accusations are coming from long-time opponents of ethanol...some from major oil producing states...and others from those who simply want to blame the closest thing they can. That's an attitude he also sees in proposals to reduce gasoline prices.
Federal mandates call for producing 9 billion gallons of corn ethanol this year. South Dakota Republican Senator John Thune opposes cutting that, and is leading the response against the letter from Governor Perry and his fellow GOP senators.
