COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chadron State College’s Casey Williams has been named the 2009 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

It’s the first such honor for any CSC softball player and just the second time a member of the Eagles has been placed on the first team.

Williams, a senior from New South Wales, Australia, had a stellar year in the circle. She had a 15-10 record and tossed 19 complete games, including four shutouts. At one point in the season, she had a 22 inning scoreless streak.

She led the RMAC in earned run average (2.46), strikeouts (185) and opponents’ batting average (.220).

Williams, who has won 29 of the Eagles’ 40 games the last two seasons, also owns several school records. For her career, she struck out 357 batters, threw 319.1 innings, seven shutouts and 37 complete games.

Williams was also the RMAC Academic Player of the Year for maintaining a 4.00 GPA in psychology.

The RMAC Player of the Year was Jessika Anastos of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. The Freshman of the Year was Regis’ Nikki Haberkorn and the Coach of the Year was Metro State’s Jen Fisher.
