The players have been chosen for the 24th annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game June 7th at WNCC. The 12 members of the East and West squads were nominated by their respective high school coach and chosen by the All-Star coaches.

The East squad will be lead by Loralyn O’Kief of Valentine High School, assisted by North Platte St. Pat’s Shelly Byrn. Angie Hiemstra of Alliance is the West head coach with Kristi Jung of Potter-Dix High School her assistant.

The West squad includes 2 players each from Ogallala...Maggie Abbott and Betsy Roche...Scottsbluff...Nicole DeBrie and Mackenzie Westphal...and Grant-Perkins County... Debi Johnson and Carlie Sis.

Also on the West are Jeni Borders of Gordon-Rushville, Danielle Ernest of Leyton, Natalie Hadden of Bridgeport, Amber Kistler of Bayard, Erin Monheiser of Potter-Dix and Anna Wimmer of Alliance.

Five schools account for 10 members of the East with Lisa Lord of Southwest and Shelby Schultz of Cambridge the only ones without high school teammates.

The high school pairs are: Erica Brown and Shaylyn Miller of Hershey, Lindsey Ferrell and Jordan Rieker of Eustis-Farnam, Alexa Hopping and Jennifer McCune of Sutherland, Maddy Lister and Megan Mroczek of North Platte St. Pats, and Katie and Jaime Young of Valentine.

The 2008 West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game will be 2 pm Saturday, June 7 at the WNCC Cougar Palace in Scottsbluff. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the TeamMates Program of Nebraska and the Scotts Bluff County Volunteer Center.
