Chadron State has its first-ever mother-son head coaches....with dad thrown in as an assistant for good measure.

Tim Connealy is beginning his third season as the Eagles' women's basketball coach, and his mother Terri is the new head women's golf coach...assisted by her husband and Tim's dad, local attorney Marty Connealy.

Terri and Marty Connealy have been married for 35 years and have 4 other children besides Tim, along with 8 grandchildren.

Terri Connealy, a Chadron native and accomplished amateur golfer, replaces Scott Simons...who served as the interim head coach the last season and a half.

Athletic Director Brad Smith is excited about adding her to the Eagle staff...calling her very knowledgeable and talented.

Terri Connealy began playing golf as a junior in high school, and has won an number of club championships while competing in tournaments around the state.

She's experienced as a golf instructor...teaching classes at Chadron's Ridgeview Country Club for a decade...and is the director of youth ministry at St Patrick's Catholic Church.

Connealy calls the CSC coaching job "a wonderful opportunity at this time of my life,” working with exceptional young women in a sport she has loved since she was young and continues to love and play today.

She inherits a team that combines experience...3 seniors and juniors...with youth in the persons of 2 incoming freshmen.

Connealy says she's confident the Eagles will be competitive, and she plans to start that with each girl having to compete for her spot on the active team...explaining that a high level of competition is a good thing and is going to make the team better.
