Michelle Haynes and Allison Rowden have each signed national letters of intent to play for the Chadron State College women’s golf team, head coach Michele Rickenbach announced on Monday.

Both golfers had stellar senior seasons to finish off their prep careers. Haynes, who helped revitalize girls golf at Crawford High School, and Rowden, a senior at Broken Bow High School, each qualified for the Class C state tournament. Rowden placed third at the Class C, District 4 meet with a round of 91, and Haynes was sixth in Class C, District 5 with a score of 100.

Although Haynes didn’t place in the top 15 at state, she did have a career-best 9-hole total by shooting a 39 on the back-nine on the second day of the tourney. Haynes finished with a two-day total of 183.

Another highlight for Haynes came in the fall of 2007 when she tied for second place at the annual Best in the West Classic.

Rowden, a four-time state qualifier, had two top-15 finishes at the state tourney. As a junior she claimed eighth and she was 13th this past season with a two-day total of 178.

Haynes and Rowden will join a young CSC team. Three players used their eligibility up last season and the remaining three will be sophomores.
