After both Chadron State basketball teams got back in the chase for a
spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference postseason playoffs
largely while playing on the road in January, the Eagles will play five
of their seven games in February at home.

The fireworks will begin this weekend, when Western State and
Colorado Mesa visit Armstrong Gymnasium. The double-headers will start
at 6 o’clock both nights.
Chadron State's Residence Life Association is hosting a white-out
weekend in Armstrong. The club is asking all students and fans to wear a
white T-shirt for both games.
Both of the invading men’s teams are fresh from knocking off Metro
State, which began the weekend with a 17-1 record. Western beat the
Roadrunners 70-66 on Friday night and Mesa bested them 64-47 on Saturday
night.
Both Western and Mesa also soundly defeated Regis over the weekend.
The Western men are now 9-10 overall and 7-8 in the conference. The Mesa
men are 11-8 and 9-6.
Both of the Colorado teams defeated the Eagles on their home courts
in early December. Mesa won 76-70 behind the 26-point performance of
6-foot-7 Michael Bear and Western prevailed 70-57 when guards Alex Hart
and Weylan Towns combined to score 37 points while going 15 of 16 from
the free throw line.
Interestingly enough, the Mountaineers are shooting just 60 percent from the line for the season.
Western also features 6-8, 310-pound Charles Joseph, who is averaging 10.2 points and 6.2 rebounds.
The Western women lost to Metro, which is 18-1 for the season, 73-67,
but hammered Regis 94-58 last weekend. The Lady Mountaineers are 10-11
for the season and 9-6 in the conference. They beat the Eagles 77-66 in
December.
Both of the Denver teams defeated the Mesa women over the weekend.
The Lady Mavs are 8-11 overall and 6-9 in the conference. They beat CSC
67-59 in December.
The CSC women won six of their seven games in January and are 7-12
and 7-8. The Eagles’ men went 4-3 last month and are 6-13 and 6-9.
