The Bridgeport girls...who lost a third starter to a knee injury in last Friday's district finals victory...were swamped by West Point Central Catholic 64-19 in C-2 state tournament action last night.
4th-ranked Central Catholic roared to a 17-1 lead in the first 4-1/2 minutes and were never threatened...limiting Bridgeport to 5 points in each of the first 3 quarters and 4 in the 4th.
Central Catholic had 10 players score, led by reserve Lindsey Boyum with 12 points. Bridgeport had no one reach double digits, but sophomore forward Ashley Stevens pulled down a game-high 23 rebounds.
Bridgeport ends the season 14-9 after starting 10-1, losing 7 straight after two senior starters went down with ACL injuries, then winning 3 playoff games to reach state.
