The Alliance girls finished 3rd in the Class B state basketball tournament Saturday morning, defeating Omaha Skutt 70-59. The Bulldogs finish the eason 20-5 with their second straight 3rd place finish after winning the title in 2007 and taking second in 2008.

Alliance led pretty much start to finish but couldn't pull away from the Skyhawks after jumping out to a 10 point lead at the end of the first quarter 23-13. The lead was 6 at the half 32-26 and 7 at 52-45 going into the final period.

Bulldog star and Nebraska Cornhusker recruit Jordan Hooper put on a show for the fans in Lincoln as she scored 47 points from all over the court. Hooper made 12 two-point shots, 4 three-pointers, and 11 free throw in a record-setting performance.

Hoopper shattered the old Class B tournament single-game scoring record of 38, her 100 points over 3 games topped the single-tournament record of 92, and her 16 field goals against Skutt broked the old mark by 1. All 3 of the old records had been set in the 1980s.

Hooper's 4 trips to state saw her score 271 points...second only to Darcy Stacke of Stuart/Chambers, who had 366 pointss between 1993 and 1996. Hooper ends her career with 2,078 points, which 5th on the state's all-time scoring list.
