Chadron, Scottsbluff, and Hyannis look to be the only school districts on the western end of Nebraska that will get an increase in state aid next year.
Figures from the Nebraska Department of Education show the Scottsbluff schools getting $708,000 more than this year...Chadron $509,000...and Hyannis $9,300 more.
The biggest loser in the region will be the Bridgeport school district...set to lose almost $1.3-million dollars.
Others taking big hits include the Alliance Public Schools...which is taking a $752,000 hit...Kimball County – down almost $589,000...Gordon-Rushville $436,000...and Bayard, $341,000 lower.
Among others taking 6-digit losses are Mitchell at 253,000...Hemingford $236,000...Crawford $220,000...Gering $178,000...Hay Springs $171,000...and Morrill $113,000.
Getting off relatively easy are the Garden County Public Schools, taking a hit of just $38,000. Statewide...school aid is increasing about $13.2-million dollars to a little over $947-million.
