Jason Meduna has been denied an appeal bond on his 145 convictions for allowing horses and burros on his 3 Strikes Mustang Ranch to starve.
That means the former Morrill County rancher will be serving his 3-1/3-to-10 year prison term while he appeals the convictions.
Morrill County District Judge Leo Dobrovolny heard oral arguments by phone Tuesday on Meduna's request to remain free on bond while his appeal makes its way through the courts, then denied the bid.
Meduna...whose sentence also bars him from owning or associating with livestock for 30 years...could be eligible for parole in 20 months under Nebraska's "good time" law.
