LEGACY AUTO EXEC SET FOR TRIAL

     A September 8th trial date has been set for one of 3 former Scottsbluff car dealership executives charged in connection with the disappearance of over 80 cars Legacy Auto in March.

     Former general manager Rick Covello entered a not guilty plea this week after Scotts Bluff County District Court Judge Randy Lippstreu rejected a motion challenging his bindover from county court.

    Covello faces 86 felony charges...10 counts of theft and 76 of attempted theft. An additional 80 counts of illegal titling of cars were dropped when deputy County Attorney John Childress determined Covello "was not involved" with that activity.

       During the preliminary hearing, County Judge James Worden said Covello part in the disappearance of the vehicles from the dealership was "significantly different" than that the other two executives charged...Rachel Fait and Allen Patch,.

      Covello attorney Stacy Nossaman Petitt...who has called her client a dupe of Fait and Patch...maintains no evidence has been shown that Covello committed any wrongdoing or was going to financially benefit from the sale of the cars.
