The 40th annual Chadron State College High Plains Band and Choir Festival concludes today at 5:00 with a free concert in Memorial featuring the nearly 250 high school musicians who've had just 2 days to prepare their numbers.
Chadron State Director of Bands Dr Adam Lambert says the goal is to give the students an intensive 2-day experience aimed at making them better singers and instrumentalists, but he freely admits it's also a great recruiting tool for the college music department.
Lambert says the chance to give high school musicians a first-hand look at the music department while making them better musicians is why Chadron State offers events such as the High Plains Festival.
