2012 RMAC Football Signing Day Central

CHADRON – The Chadron State College football program added to its roster Wednesday morning after 12 high school seniors signed National Letters of Intent.

Wednesday was the first day high school seniors could sign a letter of intent, but more commitments are expected to sign later.

“We are very excited about the young men who have committed to Chadron State. We feel that they are great athletes along with being exceptional students and citizens,” offensive coordinator Chris Stein said. “This is an important time in the history of Chadron State football and all of these young men are happy to be a part of it.”

Players getting their letters of intent to the CSC athletic office Wednesday morning include 3 from Nebraska: Wade Reeves, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver from Chadron, Frantzlee LaCrete, a 6-2, 250-pound defensive lineman from Lewellen, Sawyer Burke, a 6-2, 175-pound defensive back from Brady,

Three are from Stockton, Calif: Maurice Boyd, a 5-11, 170-pound defensive back, Brian Wood, a 6-1, 170-pound defensive back, and Ryan Wood, a 6-2, 175-pound defensive back.

Four are from Louisiana:  Tre Brown, a 5-9, 185-pound defensive back, Courtland Joshua, a 6-0, 215-pound linebacker, and Cortez Mitchell 5-8, 160-pound defensive back...all from Donaldsonville...and Treston Decoud, a 6-2, 190-pound defensive back of Mandeville.

Rounding out the initial dozen are Timmy Ornelas, a 6-1, 250-pound offensive lineman, of Fort Lupton, Colo., and Jamel Gilliam, a 5-9, 175-pound defensive back, of Fayetteville, Ga.

The Eagles, who finished the 2011 season with a 6-5 record and a 6-3 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, return 60 letter winners and 17 starters.

Since 2000, Chadron State has won or shared the RMAC title five times. No other school in the conference has more than three championships during that stretch.
