Some customers of the Eagle Theater in Chadron could be experiencing the latest technological advance in the movies as soon as this weekend as it installs a digital projector in its main room.
Manager Craig Bullard expects to eventually convert all 4 of the theater screening rooms to digital projectors, but is starting with just 1 to work his way into it.
Many theaters in larger cities have been making the switchover for several years, but the process has come more slowly to smaller towns and smaller theaters.
Bullard says digital will likely eventually be cheaper and more efficient for the Eagle Theater, but for now...the big push to change is coming from the movie studios.
The switch to digital projection is just the latest improvement Bullard is making to the Chadron theater, following renovation and redecorating of the lobby and concession area earlier this spring.
