  Gary B. Oetken, 56, Marsland, NE, passed away at his home October 24, 2007 after a long battle with cancer.

Gary was born March 12, 1951 to Bert and Lauralee (DeSive) Oetken in Crawford, NE. Gary graduated from Crawford High School in 1969 and Chadron State College in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

After graduating from college, he went on to ranch with his dad and brothers. In 1988 they purchased the Tomahawk Ranch, where Gary lived and ranched until the time of his death.

Gary married Pamylla J (Furman) on January 4, 1999. They have two children, Mollie and Mandie.

Gary was a kind and caring man, who had a deep passion for Black Angus cattle. Gary also loved the time he spent with his daughters working with their horses and all the events they shared.

Gary is survived by his parents, Bert and Lauralee Oetken of Crawford; his wife Pam and their 2 daughters, Mollie and Mandie of Marsland; Brothers Keith (Lori) Oetken of Crawford; Greg (Janet) Oetken of Marsland; Kirk (Dawn) Oetken of Crawford; He is also survived by an uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Hemingford at 10:00 Saturday, October 27, 2007. Pastor Jeri Soens will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hemingford Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
