The Dawes County Grand Jury looking into last month's police shooting death of Crawford teenager Jesse Britton is into its fourth day and a fifth day is likely.

Special Prosecutor and Morrill County Attorney Jean Rhodes says the grand jury still has a lot of work to do despite three full days of sessions, making it unlikely the panel will reach a finding today.

Rhoades said before the 16 members and three alternates were seated last Thursday that she would give them all the time they needed to determine if police acted properly and followed the law when Britton was killed.

Attorney General Jon Bruning has said the reports he'd seen showed Britton was shot and killed after he pointed a gun at officers responding to a reported break-in at the vacant Frontier Bar in downtown Crawford.

State law requires a grand jury investigation with an outside prosecutor whenever someone dies in custody or during an arrest.
