Organizers of Chadron's community Thanksgiving dinner are taking orders for home-delivered meals for shut-ins, but are also asking those who think they may come to the dinner to call by Friday so the cooks will know how many to prepare for.

Co-coordinator Linda Yeradi says they're not looking for firm reservations, except for the home deliveries, just a rough head count to make sure there's enough food.

Both the head count and the home delivery orders will be taken at 432-2626. The deadline for ordering a home delivery will be next Tuesday, the 20th.

Yeradi says if you get the answering machine, leave your name, address, and telephone number. Please speak slowly and clearly.

Meal deliveries will begin at 11:30 Thanksgiving morning. The dinner will be served from noon till 1:30 in the Assumption Arena, which will also be the location for the annual Caring and Sharing Christmas Day dinner.

Yeradi says that, like the Christmas meal, the Thanksgiving dinner is as much for those who would be spending the holiday alone as it for those who might not otherwise have the traditional meal.
