Chadron Police are searching for a pair of Dawes County residents who allegedly are part of a check-writing scheme.
Yesterday (Monday), police were called to a Chadron business in reference a person using checks to buy items on a closed account.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that a female identified as 34-year-old Mary Whitcomb of Chadron had entered the local business on two separate occasions on Sunday and made large purchases. The items purchased included electronics and tools totaling over $2,300.00.
Police obtained a search warrant to search Whitcomb's residence and located high dollar pieces of electronics Whitcomb had purchased on the closed checking account. Whitcomb was not at her residence at the time of the search and officers are currently looking for Whitcomb's whereabouts.
Police are also looking for an associate of Whitcomb's; 34-year-old Joseph Roan Eagle, for questioning regarding this incident.
Law enforcement is asking area businesses to notify the Chadron Police Department, or their local law enforcement agency, if they have had contact with Whitcomb or Roan Eagle.
The Chadron Police Department also has information that Whitcomb and Roan Eagle may be traveling through out the Panhandle of Nebraska and the Black Hills area of South Dakota.
