Chadron gets a jump on Halloween tonight (Friday) as the Chamber of Commerce holds its annual Moonlight Madness and the Dawes County chapter of the American Red Cross puts on its annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser.

Moonlight Madness runs from 4-6 indowntown Chadron. There's trick-or-treating atparticipating businesses from 4-till-6,along with a Penny Carnival,aHaunted Radio Station at KCSR, and Pumpkin Chuckin'...with everyone invited to bring their own pumpkin and see far it will go.

Our sister station KCNB - B-94.7 is also working with the Chamber of Commerce and hosting an Online Costume Contest.

Sales representative Courtney Lee will be at the B-94.7/KQSK offices at 331 Main from 4-till-6:00, taking pictures of all the kids and adultswho come by in costume.

All the pictures will be uploaded onto the KCNB website at www.b947.com  and visitors will vote for their favorites through midnight on Halloween night, with prizes to be awarded to the winners.

The Chili Cook-Off is the only annual fundraiser for the local Red Cross chapter. Teams representing businesses and organizations will have their best chili recipes cooked up for the public to determine which is the best.

It's not intended to be a serious competition, and many of theparticipants will be in costume to help celebrate Halloween.

Tickets will be available at the door and are $5 for adults, $3 for children. All the proceeds will go toward helping local families needing assistance following fires and other emergencies.
