With weather conditions uncertain and the possibility of heavy snow and wind during the remainder of the week, the City of Chadron is informing citizens that a snow emergency is being declared for Friday, December 31, 2010, through Saturday, January 1, 2011, from 2 am until noon on all three days.
The snow emergency that was issued for Thursday, Dec. 30 has been cancelled.
When a snow emergency is issued, all vehicles, boats, trailers and motorhomes must be moved off the designated emergency snow routes.
In the event the weather conditions change, the emergency may be cancelled. Stereo AM 610 KCSR will broadcast updates as necessary.
The emergency snow routes are:
- Main Street from 1st to 5th
- Chadron Ave. from 1st to 3rd
- Morehead from 2nd to 3rd
- 2nd from Bordeaux to Morehead
- 3rd from King to Mears

Also, during a snow emergency, the piling of snow on private property which obstructs the view of drivers is prohibited.
