ZIOLA, BELVILLE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

       Chadron State’s Michael Ziola and James Belville each earned Player of the Week honors for their performances in the Eagles’ 35-3 season-opening victory against the University of Mary Saturday.

        Ziola, a redshirt freshman kicker, is both the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Rawlings and Nebraska Division II Special Teams Player of the Week...while Belville, a junior, is the Nebraska Division II Defensive Player of the Week.

       Ziola had an impressive debut by booting 4 field goals –  27, 35, 27 and 20 yards – to match the second-highest single game total in school history...while adding 3 PATs in as many tries and averaging 67 yards on 8 kickoffs...including 1 for a touchback.

       Belville helped lead a defensive unit which allowed the University of Mary just 97 yards and 8 first downs. He had a team-high 9 tackles, including a sack, and a fumble recovery that led to a CSC touchdown.

       The Nebraska Division II Offensive Player of the Week is Wayne State’s Cyle Schultz, who engineered a 24-17 overtime upset over 13th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney. Schultz, a sophomore, completed 13 of 26 yards for 205 yards and two touchdowns while running for 79 yards on 15 carries.
