Two Chadron State receivers are getting another chance to play one more college football game. Brandon Harrington and Isaac Stockton have each been selected to play in the 2010 Valero Cactus Bowl on January 8 at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas.

The Valero Cactus Bowl is an NCAA Division II All-Star game that is in its 16th year. The game was originally called the Snow Bowl and played in Fargo, N.D., but was moved to Kingsville in 2001. All net profits from the Cactus Bowl are donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Harrington, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound wide receiver from Grand Island is one of three players to play in 50 games and ranks fourth all-time at CSC with 154 receptions. His 1,917 receiving yards are the seventh most in school history. He also averaged 26.0 yards each kickoff return during his career.

During the 2009 season, he led the Eagles with 42 catches for 575 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 18 kicks for an average of 27.4 yards.

Harrington is a two-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and All-Nebraska Division II First Team selection, and a Daktronics Super Region 3 Second Team honoree. In 2009, he was named to the ESPN The Magazine District 7 Academic First Team. He’s also been placed on the RMAC All-Academic First Team three straight years for having a 3.76 GPA in health and physical education.

Stockton, a 6-3, 238-pound inside receiver from Colorado Springs, had the ability to make the difficult look routine. For his career, he made 145 receptions (sixth most in school history) and scored 19 touchdowns (second in school history).

In 2009, he was second on the team with 41 receptions for 395 yards and three scores.

He’s been named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference First Team the past two seasons, as well as being a Daktronics Super Region III Second Team selection in 2008 and 2009.

In addition, he was named to All-Nebraska Division II First Team and the Football Gazette Super Region III First Team in 2008.
