The three finalists to be the next head football coach at Chadron State College are going to be busy Thursday and Friday.

Black Hills State head coach Jay Long, CSC offensive coordinator Chris Stein, and former UNO assistant Brad McCaslin were revealed as the finalists this morning, and almost immediately began a series of interviews.

Athletic director and search committee co-chair Brad Smith says the trio will be meeting a wide range of campus and community groups and individuals...including college President Dr Janie Park ... as part of the interview process.

Smith says the results of the formal and informal interviews with the 3 candidates will be compiled in one way or another for the search committee to use in recommending one of them to Park....who will make the final choice.

Smith hopes to see Park make her decision early next week, possibly as early as Monday

Long and Stein are both Chadron State alumni and former players, while Stein and McCaslin were unsuccessful finalists while South Dakota School of Mines select D-1 assistant Stacy Collins as head coach in mid-December.

Chadron State had more than 40 applicants for the opening created when the school decided not to renew the contract of Bill O'Boyle. O'Boyle had essentially be suspended in October after the school self-reported to the NCAA possible violations in football fundraising.
