Chadron State has dropped it's 2-year football series with Central Washington University, replacing it with a similar home-and-home arrangement with Pittsburg State of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
CSC and Central Washington were to play in Chadron September 6th and in Ellensburg next year, but Central Washington's league is adding an additional team in 2009 and the teams couldn't work out a date.
That brought in Pittsburg State, whose will take over the September 6th Central Washington date for the first meeting between the Eagles and Gorillas. The date for their 2009 meeting in Pittsburg will be set after the season.
Pittsburg State's on-line fans have been among the most critical of Chadron State the past two seasons, largely because of the perceived rivalry between two of the top running backs in NCAA Division-2...Danny Woodhead and Germaine Race.
Race held a number of season and career records when he completed his eligibility after the 2006 season. Woodhead...college football's alltime leading rusher...broke many of them, but could only tie Race's career touchdown mark and fell 2 points short of tying his alltime scoring record.
