The Box Butte County Agricultural Society has selected its 2012 Fair entertainment.

Country music up-and-comer David Nail will headline the August 11 concert at the Fairground grandstand in Hemingford. The announcement comes on the heels of Nail's song Let it Rain, which climbing to number one on the Billboard Country Charts. It is the first number one record for Nail.

He will have another first Thursday night (tonight, Jan. 19) as he is scheduled to perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC Television.

The 32-year-old musician from Kennett, MO had two songs make the top 25 country music charts. Red Light reached number seven while Turning Home climbed to number 20.

"So much is happening right now, it's a little hard to take in," said Nail. "But where I come from, people watch Jay Leno, just like they watched Johnny Carson --and this is the kind of thing that's going to mean something to my Mom and Dad. This is beyond anything I could've dreamed!"

Speaking of his family, nail credits his father for his musical influences.

"My father was a band director for 31 years and he listened to all sorts of music, including a lot of old-school Elton John. I just loved the big, lush feel of those records," David explains. "Glen Campbell was a huge influence on me for the same reason: the arrangements, the elaborate production, and the dramatic songs. Those influences all come out in what I do."

Fans from Box Butte County will get their chance to see Nail's energetic stage show when he performs on August 11. Tickets for the concert will go on sale around June 1, along with tickets to the remainder of the Fair's grandstand shows.
