A Chadron man managed to avoid prison after pleading guilty to burglarizing a Chadron motel this summer. Adam Honomichl will instead spend eight months in the Dawes County jail and pay $236 restitution.
Honomichl had requested probation, opposed by County Attorney Vance Haug, who sought prison time.
District Court Judge Brian Silverman agreed probation was inappropriate for the case, but felt prison was too -- so he settled on the county jail instead.
Silverman warned Honomichl that any future crimes WOULD land him in prison.
With credit for 105 days already served, Honomichl could be released from jail this time in about four-and-a-half months with good behavior.
The sentencing was handed down Tuesday in Dawes County District Court.
