SOURCEGAS CHARGES INVESTIGATED

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Natural gas provider SourceGas may have overcharged its Nebraska customers by more than 1 million dollars over the last year when its predecessor Kinder Morgan increased rates.

That's according to a complaint filed with the Nebraska Public Service Commission.

But the SourceGas officials say its rates were proper and
complied with terms of a rate settlement the commission approved last December.

The complaint accuses the company of mishandling rate changes last September and last January.

The company applied higher rates to all bills issued after September 1 and January 1 even if the billing cycle included part of the previous month.

SourceGas customers could receive a refund if the commission agrees with the complaint. SourceGas serves 94,000 residential customers in Nebraska.
