The following is a summary of subjects discussed and actions taken at the regular monthly meeting of the BBGH Board of Trustees held on October 22, 2007.
• Jim Parks, Chief Operations Officer, gave his final monthly report on the progress of the Medical Arts Plaza stating the building is complete with the dedication scheduled for Sunday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. The comments have been overwhelmingly supportive from both the patients and the providers concerning the new space. Dr. Raymond Carlson, Chief of Staff, also remarked how his patients and staff are also enjoying the new space.
• Tracy Jatczak, Chief Financial Officer, informed the Board that the signing of the documents for the Medical Arts Plaza’s loan closing will be held Monday, October 29th. This will move the construction period financing to permanent financing and will allow Box Butte General Hospital to utilize the funding from the USDA and First National Bank.
• Election of officers was held during Monday’s meeting with two positions, Chairman of the governing board and Secretary/Treasurer, to be filled due to annual term limits. David Briggs was elected as Chairman of the governing board and Ted Bohlen was elected as Secretary/Treasurer.
• Becky Sisler, Director of Human Resources, gave her annual report detailing the completion of annual competency assessments by all hospital employees and the required annual education and inservicing provided to all employees. Ms. Sisler reported a 98% completion of all competencies by June 30, 2007 and 100% completion of all competencies as of the date of her report. Additionally, she reported BBGH exceeded last year’s budget in relation to monies spent in the area of continuing education by 30%. This overage was partly related to three individuals participating in the Nebraska Leadership Institute this past fiscal year.
• Ms. Sisler continued by asking the Board to authorize $2,500 in support of the Annual Recognition Dinner scheduled for December 8, 2007. The board voted unanimously in favor of Ms. Sisler’s request.
• Following the Executive Session, the Board charged Mr. Griess to contact Mr. Terry Peltz and have a structural contractor evaluate the building located at 2307 Box Butte Avenue to verify the structural integrity of the foundation.
• Irene Seidler, representing Diagnostic Imaging, was recognized as the Employee of the Month for October. Also, Carol Bauer, RN, was recognized for her successful completion of Certification as a Foot Care Nurse. New employees introduced were Kerry Fisher, Chart Auditor, Debra Planansky, Receptionist, Angela Shields, Environmental Services, and Liz Procaska, Phlebotomist.
