OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A former player says Steve Pederson losing his job as Nebraska athletic director is the best thing to happen to the football program in 10 years.
Steve Glenn was a late 1970s offensive lineman who organized a group of former players and Web site to call for changes in the department.
Glenn says speculation former coach Tom Osborne will be named interim athletic director is exciting.
He says Osborne could do great things for the university, especially if the team has to recruit a new coach.
Osborne didn't immediately return a phone message this afternoon.
No word yet on the status of head football coach Bill Callahan, who signed a five-year contract last month.
