LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - While the Nebraska State Fair continues, a top University of Nebraska official called for it to be moved.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman says moving the state fair from its 106-year-old location would free up space for public and private research facilities. He says that would help the university and even the state fair.
He says too little land and aging infrastructure at State Fair Park limits the fair's potential.
But the chairman of the fair's board disagrees.
Jerry Fitzgerald says that a move would create all sorts of problems and that Nebraskans wouldn't favor spending the millions necessary to move the fair.
