| KIRSTEN SWANSON |
A part-time employee of KCOW radio was crowned the 2007 Box Butte County Fair Queen Thursday night.
16-year-old Kirsten Swanson, a junior-to-be at Alliance High School won the crown and an $850 scholarship.
Swanson, the daughter of Jim and Kathi Swanson of Alliance, entertained the crowd with a fairy tale she had written about herself which combined her efforts to find the perfect horse along with performing a cheerleading dance.
Swanson’s sponsor was KCOW radio.
Swanson has been active in the Box Butte County Fair for several years, competing in numerous horse shows. She was the Reserve Champion Horse Showman at last Saturday's 4-H Horse Show. She also was honored as the Reserve Champion Horse All-Around.
Crowned First Attendant was 17-year-old Blake Becker of Alliance. Becker, who currently serves as the Alliance High School FFA President, is the daughter of John and Pam Becker of Alliance. Becker is also a member of the Alliance High School Speech Team, and a graduate of the Alliance St. Agnes Academy. Becker was sponsored by Ackerman Ag Service and Supply. Becker won a $400 scholarship.
Named as Second Attendant was 18-year old Kelsey Forgey of Hemingford, the daughter of Dale Forgey and Stacey Forgey of Hemingford. Forgey was sponsored by the Hemingford Ledger and won a $300 scholarship.
Selected as Miss Congeniality was 18-year old Melissa Cervantes, the daughter of Joe and Marie Cervantes of Hemingford. Cervantes was sponsored by WESTCO and will be awarded at $200 scholarship.
