SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) - Authorities evacuated the Western Sugar Cooperative factory in Scottsbluff Monday morning.

Paul Reisig is assistant chief of the Scotts Bluff Rural Fire Department. He says no one was injured.

The fire was put out by 12:30 p-m. He says it started in a dust collector above the packaging floor.

A cause had not been verified, but Reisig says it likely was a malfunctioning bearing or belt in the dust collector, which sucks dust off the packaging floor.

State Fire Marshal Mike Turner has been called in to investigate the fire and determine a cause. Earlier reports indicated a small explosion but according to Asst. Chief Reisig there was no explosion. There were no injuries and no structural damage to the building. Damage was limited to equipment on the 3rd floor of the building.

About 32 firefighters responded, including trucks from the Gering Fire Department and the Scottsbluff Fire Department.

About 50 workers from the factory, which is owned by a growers cooperative, stood outside watching the emergency crews this morning.
