The Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet took place Friday, February 9th, 2007 at the Alliance Country Club. Lynn Placek, 2007 Chamber Treasurer led the festivities which followed the theme of: “Members, the Heart of the Chamber”. Entertainment was provided at the social hour by Michael Todd. Todd played an enjoyable medley of soothing guitar music.

Pasha (Korber) Gonzalez was the main speaker giving a presentation on why Alliance attracted her back after living in such metropolitan areas as Vancouver, British Columbia and San Francisco, California. Pasha explained that she was seeking job opportunities that were only found in these metropolitan areas but in the long run, found that there were the same type of opportunities right here in her own home town. These same opportunities are available with a safe, friendly, hometown flair where you could always leave to visit a big place but come back to where you “belong” when you’re done. She returned to the “the village” that helped make her Pasha (Korber) Gonzalez, the hometown lady with a civil engineering degree!

The person who wrote her nomination said the following: “I can’t remember a time in my 20 plus years here that Lue wasn’t serving the Chamber in some way. Ambassadors, president, employee and don’t let the employee part make you think the volunteer part ever stopped. Heritage Days chair, Mrs. Santa, on & on. And now to add to her volunteering she is helping out Friends of Carhenge as their treasurer. Lue is definitely a “step up” person whenever and wherever there is a need.
